Hello everyone :)
Merry Christmas 2009! It has been an eventful year to say the least.

There was the Sec 1 orientation in one corner of the school hall. Remember the false start to the first song? (Or maybe that was last year. Hmm.) Anw, many Sec 1s came in this year, resulting in...
Choosing of Sec 1 juniors. Holy cow, that was a mess! We were randomly pulling in people to come and try the trombone. Then we had a piece of paper with all the potential people. It ran one whole page. Then we lost it. Then we found it again. :)
SYF 2009@ Singapore Conference Hall. God, we were damn scared when Mr Chan went to pull out the slip of paper which indicated which day we were. SYF came and we got GOLD :) I still remember us screaming like banshees when we found out, eventhough we were reminded to keep our feelings to ourselves. It was like "Silver... Silver... Gold... Silver... CHIJ... GOLD!"
Section Competition 2009 - ah the creativity of our section.^^ "She's dead." "I know." Haha. Great acting people. :) Eventhough it wasn't 1st/2nd/3rd material, it was decent stuff.
Auditions for EOY concert.
Sec 4 farewell. :') The stupid "We're both sick" excuse and it turns out they were a few tables away from us, the hide-and-seek-the-pinafore, the random pictures, the speech, the video :D
Nov '09 Band Camp. Ponyo! It was pretty intensive, but very productive. I lost my windpipe :( Any extras, ppl?
Faith, Hope and Love Concert Pt. III - it wasn't the highlight of the year, and it could have been better. But it was still a concert - a couple of songs were cool like tmr - and it bonded the section/band. If that was the only result achieved (along with better playing and ticket sales), that's good, I think.

Ah well. We did have a productive band year :)

P.S. Why does Santa have 3 gardens? Because he ho-ho-hos. (Geddit? He hoes the garden, and since he ho-ho-hos, he has three gardens. Haha. XD)

Our dear SL has H1N1 so pls (1) practice hard in her name (2) make her a get well card (3) let's arrange a section visit so that we all catch it and can pon school :D

Haha, just kidding about the last point. I think.

Some highlights of the month:

AN AWESOME PERSON'S BIRTHDAY :D Thank you people for making it one of the best! I love ya! Boston Brass Concert was cool, especially the trombone guy. Here's an excerpt of a conversation between Tharanii, me and Mr Larry LaDuke.

Tharanii: That's the trombone dude.
Me: You wanna talk to him?
Tharanii: Yeah.
(go up to him, who was talking to a bunch of guys, all depressingly taller than us)
Me: Hey, are you the trombone dude?
Mr Larry: Yes, I'm LaDuke.

AHAHAHA. Geddit?

Tsk. Slow people.

Anyway, it was an AWESOME concert as always! Their songs were superb, their technique made us ashamed (again) and their tone made me want to fall over the railing. In a good way. And they were entertaining too:D Especially the last part where they sang their parts :)

We went back to school and got locked out. Have I mentioned that part? It was partly hilarious anyway. If we didn't come back after a great concert, I think someone would have blown his/her top, but we were pretty cool about it. The security guard patrolling the area eventually noticed us and certain heroic people went up in the dark :D It was cool, because halfway through, all the lights turned off automatically in the school and after a long silence, I thought "Are they still alive?"

But yeah:) Nice day.

What else...

Oh yeah, come for sectionals people! It's good for you (1) you practice and improve yourself (2) we laugh so much that it's a bit of a stress reliever too.

And I interrupt my own sermon to tell you dreadful news.

Did you know you can get a disease from playing the trombone and trumpet? :O I read it in a book. Apparently some trombonists overexert their lungs and get some lung disease. But puh-lease, we can't get it in secondary school, we aren't loud enough yet.-.-

Yups...

And Cecilia and Daphne came back on Saturday :D It was nice! Great! Awesome! I didn't feel so old anymore and it was kind of reassuring in a way to have seniors around :) Hint to certain people! Haha.

HELLO PEOPLE! ok. actually i do not think there is nothing much to say but here are some things we need to get done.

SECTION COMPETITION
we must must try and get something for like section competition cos well the trombone section usually does not get anything. sad sad. anyway, the french horns have already finished preparations for section competitions or so i have heard. and the lovely trombone section still stoning a bit blur blur and everything. please tell me if you have any suggestions. being funny makes us a step closer to getting something in the competition. so we should aim to be funny. i am a genius man!

SECTION OUTING
you guys should be getting the sms regarding where to meet and everything soon. and some of us might have to pay for the tickets. i was thinking that if like some of us had the tickets while some did not, the ppl with the tickets need to also split the cost of the tickets for the others cos it is not fair for some to go for free while others have to pay. do not complain about having to pay for others or you will get it from me.

i think that is about it. please come down for self practice especially those who have not gone down for sectionals or self practice. need to go down at least three times. do not tell me i did not tell you.

and it feels weird not to have the seniors' names on top of ours in the section members list. don't you thing so? although our names are very pretty, still... HAHA. joking joking.

Hello(:

For the lack of anything better to write, I shall pen down the band practice dates this week.

Monday (8th June)

Nothing, but I'll be in school from 8am to 2pm so if you want to come down for self-practice, you can.

Tuesday and Thursday (9th & 11th June)

Junior band from 9am to 12nn. But the band room will be open at 8am (it's always open from one hour early and onwards).

Wednesday (10th June)

Main band from 2.00pm to 5.30pm. Hmm, actually I forgot when it starts but I think it's two o'clock.

Saturday (13th June)

Combined practice.

It'll be nice if you can come down early for band and practice. It'll be good, then if Mr Chan ever asks whether a section comes down for practice, we can say we did:) Haha. But yeah, it's better to practice this week than come down again during the third and fourth week, y'know?

Does anybody wants to go for a section outing in June? Go and watch another scary movie haha.

This random dude went to Beethoven's grave one day and to his terror, he heard Beethoven's music (Moonlight Sonata) played backwards. Thinking it was just him, he went back home and told his friend. The friend didn't believe him and the next day the two of them stood by his grave and Beethoven's music (this time Fur Elise) was played backwards again. Scared to death, they decide to return for the last time the next day, since third time's the charm, right? On the third day, they heard Ode to the Joy played backwards. Happy people(:

I tried to find jokes about trombones but they were quite mean. Then if you look through the list, it shows you jokes like "difference between a trombone and a trumpet" or "how to make a trombone sound like a french horn" or "how many bassoonists it takes to screw on a lightbulb". Honestly, it just wasn't funny.

So I have an old joke to share then:
Q: What is the difference between music and composers?
A: Music is composed while composers eventually decomposes.

Muahahahaha.

Junior band is a bit more fun(: Three Sec 1s to welcome to the crazy family - Amelia, Sandy and Sarah! Junior band is really big too... I wonder how it will be like next January. Woah. We'll have to knock down walls and rebuild the area. Again.

There was this other joke which I think is true:

One day an 8 year old told his dad, "When I grow up, I want to be a musician." And his dad answered, "Sorry son, you can't have it both ways."

It's not really funny but hey, there's some truth in it.

hi people! i know you might be stressed about syf and dunno whatnot but i am a bad joker and can never remember jokes or the punch lines but if you talk to me, i can probably make you laugh if that is what you need. anyway, i just wanted to say that everyone must work hard and that i will be very very sad if anyone cannot make it. so please work hard and i know that applies to me as well. i love everyone and i want everyone to be happy.

I have this excellent idea! You know SYF and Sec 2, 3 and 4 are really trying times, right? So, what do we need most? Hope! We need to believe in what we do so it doesn't become a chore and we don't give up hope! So my brilliant plan is: If we ever see anyone who's sad or angry and basically thinks life is bad, say "May the Force be with you". Hahahaha. I'm going to do that from now on.

Important Band Days

Heys again :)

This is your GraceAdam alert. It's free to sign up by telling Grace to remind you about band days. It is notoriously unreliable since the alert forgets half the time to remind you back, or is stoning when you ask the alert. However, the alert tends to jolt back to life and reminds its users again.

Band is now on Mondays (3pm-6pm). Mondays are compulsory sectionals when we review what happened during main band and practice. Wednesdays are main band practice, with the conductor (3pm-6.30pm). There are also Saturday practices, which have been back to the usual 8am to 1pm.

When the sec 1s join band (our goal is 40 of them!) there will be band on Tuesdays for them. As very kind and responsible seniors, we look after them by going down so that they can ask us questions and we teach them. :)

Sec 1 CCA Day is on 17th January (Saturday). We'll be playing Sway and Hot Latin, which we'll be practicing on 7th January also. So the scores need to be blu-tacked.

We also have a very important day in March 2009 for the SYF tune-up in the Singapore Conference Hall (S.C.H. Not school.) It'll be in the evening on a certain Tuesday. We have band camp too during the March holidays, so as Mr Chan says, refrain from going overseas. The band camp will be held on 19th to 21st March, I think, from Thursday to Saturday.

I have this idea for Sec 1 orientation. You know those colourful stickers you get in Popular, the ones that come in the shape of an apple or butterfly or something? Yeah, we can write JOIN IJ TROMBONES on them and stick them onto the Sec 1s. Haha. :) There will definitely be other CCAs doing that. Might as well join in the walking advertisement Sec 1s. :D

Happy New Year! Don't hate me for putting up a new blogskin! 2009 should have a fresh start, right? :) Everyone, must post more! Don't worry, I have the first blogskin saved in my computer.

2009 is SYF year as Mrs Lee pointed out during assembly today. Yeps. Didn't see many people raise their hands when Mrs Lee called the band people, tsk tsk. Must have more pride!! I hope everyone works hard towards a common goal, ya? And it's not just about SYF, it's about gaining knowledge, living the experience! Remember??? Haha. Now you do then :)

There is band tomorrow! Our section has a reputation to live up to, so fingernails check, hair check! I don't know whether anybody had an unusual growth spurt (grr... all the tall people in our section!) make sure the school pinafore is not midway at your thigh!

Yay, congratulations to all of us for being one year older :) Everyone is senior now, haha. Happy birthday to Daphne too :) All your wishes come true! Yeps, make sure you know where each other's classrooms are, just in case one day you have an emergency. Believe me, the random useless information is handy! "Information is power!" Artemis Fowl once said. If you don't know who's Artemis Fowl, he's a supergenius who invented the first non-co2 emitting plane! It's true! (Btw, he's a fictional character) Haha.

It's been a long time since anybody posted. I guess it's the quiet time when everyone is studying. With all the studying going about, I guess everyone is going to get straight A1s during the finals, yeah? Don't roll your eyes at the computer screen - you can do it. :)

OK, our section is coming down to sign out our instrument on Thursday morning. I don't know the timing yet. Alternatively, you can come down on 1st September at 10 am to 12nn. I'll be there. If I'm not, I'll be in the Level 4 art room. You can call me. :)

The conductor stand is gone... No, actually it was used for mass. So weird, using conductor stand for mass. It didn't look out of place during mass though. Says something.

Hello trombone-ers!

Band is going to break soon for the exams. I don't know, do you feel a sense of nostalgia? Monday is going to be sectionals. People are going to be rearranging furniture in the band room at 3 o'clock though so mind where you put your bags. It's easier to leave it in class I think.

Is everyone going for Sunday's concert? Hope you guys are. :) Dress appropriately... Xin Hui was very funny yesterday; "You want to wear spaghetti staps can... wear a jacket and zip it up." Haha. That was a good answer.

well... this is my first post and i am so happy to finally post although the post might turn out to be crappy. ok. i want to say that the trombone section rocks and we will win. we have to think with that mindset first before actually winning right. and the section blog is alive again( although it never was alive in the first place). grace and i have revived this blog and relieved this blog of its misery.(more of grace actually) yay.

if you peepos actually feel demoralised at one point, do not worry cos well i cannot play correctly half the time and i am still fine aren't i? work hard and we are going to take the section competition by storm.

Ok, this is NOT your average reminder that you canNOT leave the band room untidy after you leave. Even if you touch a toe onto the carpet, make sure you check the chairs and all so that they're all straight and squeaky clean. (if they're really squeaky though, something's wrong.) Anyway. Another picture and this is of a broomstick. Guess what it means!

Okay. The broomstick is the broom (means you must clean up whatever you leave) and it's a witch's broomstick because i'll be a witch if you leave it messy. Same goes for the cupboard and whatever not I guess. Okay, I know, same goes for me too.

Haha. It's autumn now actually! Autumn August... It's a very nice month if you actually sit down and think about it. :)

Ok... Good luck with the exams everyone, especially Roslyn and Daphne. Start pecking at your books. Must be all-rounded okay!

Section competition is drawing nearer, don't get cold feet. Just take a super deep breath and be calm. Speaking of which, Sec 1 Recital is nearing too. It seems like only yesterday I guess. We're getting old. Haha. :)

Hey all!
i know most of us are stressed and troubled and what not.But whatever people, you're not the only ones stressed.Actually i really have nothing to say. HAHAHHAAHA.okay right. i don't know about each and every one of us but i've always loved my section. So it's really up to us as individuals to make a decision whether or not you want to achieve our goals together. I believe in every one of us, and i trust each of us, whether or not you're a senior or even my junior, i still give you my trust and respect.
Therefore, i'm waiting for all of you to join me. To join me in making every one in our section not just great players but great players as one.
So, when you're ready don't hesitate.
Also, whatever the outcome of our ensemble, it'll merely be a learning experience for all of us.

Hey fellow tbone mates!
I am not sure if you are gonna read this or not, but I just wanna wish you all the best of luck tmr. It may not turn out right and sir might not choose us. But what I am defintely sure is that no matter what happens, whether we win or lose, I am sure that we will always be bonded and as a section; we are all "Beautiful girls!"(except me lah.)
